i have a problem with entering my password to connect to my wireless network.

i have a linksys roter model number: WRT54G2
    i have a Hp Pavilion dv4 1220us Notebook
    os: Windows vista 64-bit

    My problem is:

    i have a password with 10 numbers and letters(digits).
when i try to enter my password it allow me only to enter 8 of the 10 numbers and letters.

then i restart my notebook, then i tried again to enter my password, it accept my password. so now my password is save on my notebook.

now, yesterday i went by a friends house. i tried to connect to her (linksys)router with her password. her password is also more than 8 digit.
it did not allow me to enter her password. i restarted my notebook 2 times, the problem was still there. so i could not connect to her router

can someone please help me with this, i dont understand why i cant enter more then 8 digits. when i'm entering a password the cursor stop after 8 digit and it does not keep going that i can keep entering the rest digits of the pasword

hope someone can help me with this
