    Hi all,

    When I set wifi to 'Wireless Ethernet Bridge' I get this error: The field 'wl_radio' is invalid

    I found a fix by Shibby with a code edit for file basic-network.asp, but when I FTP into router to edit, I cant replace/update the file :-s
    Code:
                    for (uidx = 1; uidx <= maxwan_num; ++uidx) {

                        var v = (uidx>1) ? uidx : '';
    Can anyone help?

    Router is: R7000
    Firmware is: AdvancedTomato 132
    Error is: The field 'wl_radio' is invalid

    The filesystem is read-only. You will have to use the /tmp/var/wwwext/cgi-bin directory for your modified file, which can then be accessed via http://your-router-IP/ext/cgi-bin/basic-network.asp . If the configuration only needs to be changed the one time then set it and you're done. If you need to use your modified file regularly in place of the stock file, then you will have to store the file on USB storage and use either the Administration->Scripts section or an autorun file on the USB drive to copy it back into the ext/cgi-bin directory after a reboot, as changes within the /tmp directory tree will not survive power loss.

    Thanks for the reply Sean, i'll try the temp method.
    Just wondering if midnight commander in a telnet session would work with this?

    Work for what specifically? If I recall, MC is just a user shell with fancy features. Not sure what you're asking.

    I had used it the past to replace root files on another device.

    I decided to install Fresh Tomato instead.
    All running smooth now, and I can share my mobile hotspot across my network at last. YeY.

    Glad it's working for you. To answer your question, no. Router firmware is loaded as read-only aside from a few directories of which are temporary and loaded into RAM. The program used to transfer files plays no role in this.
