I'm using an external antennas and since i want to get the best signal i can i'd like to ask about the rx and tx antenna drop down menus.I have connected my antenna on the left side, nex to the power plug connector, and i'd like to ask if i should change the tx and rx selection in the interface menu?Which one of them?Should i change both of them? Also, should i increase the xmit level? When i type wl scan;wl scanresults in the telnet window i get rssi about -80 and noise abou -95.Are those values ok?

The left-right antenna selection from the menu coresponds to the left and right antennas, when you are facing the router from the front.
You need 10+dBi difference between RSSI and noise for stable connection with reasonable speed.

Um, no this is not always true.

In past, the answer would always have been "left as seen from rear!"

This seemed to be inherited from Linksys code and was true across all the projects.

Now, in recent DD-WRT v23beta2 firmware, at least for WRT54G units its left as seen from front. An older GS1.0 unit I had with same firmware was still left as seen from rear.

    WTF?

IF you have one honking big external antenna, change both rx and tx to that one. There is no reason to keep using the lesser antenna.

These values are already quite good. If you need better signal between 2 WRT that you own, I would concentrate on high-gain antenna on both units.
