external antennas for wireless-n

Discussion in 'Networking Issues' started by mountainhomeranch, Jul 28, 2006.

  1. We are an isolated ranch in the hills with several buildings sharing one satellite connection. We have an external omni with directionals at the desktops using d-link routers. Many dead spots where we would like people to be able to use laptops. Can with linksys wireless-n be set up to use external antennas? How long a cable? Thinking of using an existing antenna tower.

No help from this site, but we made it work: Connected the linksys wireless-n to the satellite, connected two external omni's through two of the ports with D-link access points and gave them separate channels. Get the direct n- coverage inside the building, outside at the other cabins, they choose whichever antenna gives them better coverage -- regular g.
