Extremely slow download speeds.

    I got a 2Wire 2700HG connected to a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 router with tomato firmware. After a while, successfully got it working. However, my download speed is excrusiatingly slow. With my 2Wire, I can touch 2700kbps easily but with Buffalo, I am hitting only 300. I am mostly using default settings with the exception of setting a key for the router. Notedly, with the default Buffalo firmware, I can hit 2900+. Is there a setting that limits my download speed? Another issue is that my signal strength is only 3bars when I am literally sitting beside the router with 0 interference. Any help guys?

    I resetted the NVRAM. Its a little better. About 1200 but still nowhere near the expected 2700-2900. My connection is..

    Telephone line ---> 2Wire ---> Buffalo
    ---> PC

    This problem is weird. Anyone had experienced this? Any solution thanks.

    I am sure you are not being ignored, just right now no one has the answer.

    are you running the 2wire in bridge mode with the router doing pppoe authentication? that is the best setup, so if your not running that then do it. also, this is an off chance, but in misc settings in tomato, set the wan port speed to 1000mbps full.

    No problems Mastec. The timing here and there is probably different lol :tongue:

    Thanks jon for your input. Currently, my 2Wire is still running in router mode and the Buffalo is running in the default settings. Now I just got to change it to Bridge mode? Coz, with the original firmware with this setup, I was having good speeds. Its only after Tomato that I have this issue in. Anyway, I will try the Bridge mode. Thanks!

    bridge mode is better and more reliable and less troublesome anyway. i know 2wires can be hard to put into bridge mode, so if you have trouble google around for "bridge mode 2700hg" or something like that

    when its in router mode your basically running a router behind a router, which can cause alot of odd problems

    here it is

    "Go to gateway.2wire.net/mdc

    Go to Broadband Link -> Configure

    Ensure VPI = 0, VCI = 35

    Disable PVC Search

    Set connection type to Direct IP

    Save settings

    Go to Advanced -> Configure Services

    Uncheck "Enable Routing"

    Save settings"

    after you do this you will not be able to connect to the modems web interface, unless you connect directly to it and give yourself a static ip, so copy any info you need from it beforehand.

    after you do that, go into tomato and change the wan connection type to PPPOE, then enter in your verification info.

    and like i said before, make sure in tomatos miscellaneous settings that wan port speed is set to 1000mbps full.

    also, go to the QOS settings in tomato, and make sure it is not enabled. lastly, check the logs in tomato to see if its doing anything weird or getting repeating errors. besides that I don't know what else to do.

    I am using Singnet from Singapore and heard that VCI=35 does not work. Only 100 works. Also, I dont have a 1000mbps full option. Max is 100mbps full only. Thanks alot for your help!

    go to <router ip>/management

    under Broadband Link -> Configure, change connection type to direct ip, save it.
    Advanced -> Configure Services, untick the enable routing checkbox and save.
    go back to Broadband Link -> Configure, change connection type back to PPoE

    Somehow, my 2wire refuses to enable bridge mode when the connection type was still ppoe, and refused to connect when the connection type remained as direct ip

    Anyway, i can confirm i'm using a VCI of 35 and it works flawlessly (= yes i'm on singnet.

    besides that, my qos is enabled as well, and i'm suffering from no degradations in download/upload speeds. -shrugs-

    probably e only difference is i'm using tomato 1.07
