I guess the main problem of WRT54G + FakeAP is, that FakeAP does only support Prism2/2.5/3 chipsets. The author of FakeAP could write this little piece of software, because there is an opensource driver for Prism2/2.5/3 http://hostap.epitest.fi/ which allows tinkering with all kinds of internal settings of these chipsets.
For the broadcom chipset used in the WRT54G, there is afaik only the closedsource driver supplied by broadcom, which gives you only very limited control over the wlan chipset.
So unless you get your hands on an opensource driver for the broadcom chipset (aren't Sveasoft or the Openwrt-team currently trying to write their own driver?) or unless you can find detailed information on how this chipset is exactly working, you probably won't be able to persuade the WRT54G to send more than one SSID.
