Is there a way to filter what is sent to syslog.

Things like the MSmessage pop up spam that are constant on the comcast network fill my logs. I know that traffic is there, i just dont want to see it in my logs.

If you use Wallwatcher(recommended anyway), it's easy. Right click on the local port column, the furthest right, and select "don't log" ports 1026 and 1027. I'm sure one of the Linux guys will be able to tell you how to do this in iptables, but I believe Messenger spam is on those 2 ports, so just need to drop those but not log them. I too am getting a massive number of these and also do not log them. I can't imagine what it must be like using XP if all those got through on say a dsl modem with no fw.
