Firewall logging using Log Viewer 2.0

Back in my BEFW11S4 days I used Log Viewer:

This site says "Log Viewer supports capturing, viewing and analyzing SNMP trap messages send by Linksys BEFSR11, BEFW11S4, BEFSR41, BEFSX41, BEFSR81, BEFVP41, WAG54G and similar Linksys routers/firewalls."

Since I upgraded to a WRT54GS I've been searching for a way to use it with Log Viewer 2.0. I'm having a difficult time as the scripting discussions here are beyond my understanding.

I'm wondering if the following has a chance of working:

    1. Use HyperWRT firmware.

    2. Use this script suggested by Link Logger (http://www.linklogger.com/wrt_setup.htm)

    3. Install Log Viewer. See if it works.

I've also posted my question to the Log Viewer forum.

    Any suggestions or comments?

I don't think HyperWRT uses SNMP for logs, only syslog. So you will be out of luck with Log Viewer. You can give WallWatcher or LinkLogger a try. They both use syslog to capture logs from the WRT54GS.

Yes, you're right. I heard back from the author of Log Viewer. He hopes to add syslog support in the next release.
