I just flashed your Tarifa B0004 on my WRT54G v4 and it is working great! Flashed without drama, just like a Linksys build. I really wanted to add Static DHCP and wireless power setting to my router and your firmware seems to do the trick. I was happy to see a mod built from 4.20.7 which I've been using with good results, and I only really wanted the two additional features that you have provided.

Why isn't anyone else using this? I know there are a lot of WRT54G v4 owners looking for firmware that works on this version that supports Static DHCP and doesn't brick the router. I've had a lot of problems with the other beta firmware for the version 4 and had resorted back to Linksys 4.20.7.

One question - you note that the web config tool doesn't work (which I can verify), but is there a manual way to back up the config that doesn't require being a computer scientist to understand?

    Great job on your updates.
    Thank you!!

Good to hear, that you are happy with this build.

About your question concerning the back-up of your configuration,
I don't have a easy (and safe) way of making a config backup and restore.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Jchuit,

Thanks for your reply. Are you planning a future Tarifa build to get the Web Configuration working like it does in 4.20.7 or is that a problem for some reason?

I had a little problem adding an additional static DHCP address to an existing list I had set up (4 clients), which I was able to correct by cutting the entire list from the Static DHCP window, resetting the router, and pasting the list back in. All my clients are now properly assigned a fixed DHCP so that I can monitor them in the client list as well as assign port forwarding as required. Very nice!!

This firmware build seems to be very stable and working well.

    Bump

I wanted to bump this thread to keep visiblity to it. I've used this firmware in a WRT54G v4 (not well supported by most of the popular firmwares), and it has been working great.

Two great features with out any fuss:

    1) Static DHCP - Shame on Linksys for not including this

    2) Power up the TX power on your AP - Gives you MIMO like performance on a $50 router - very cool...

This seems to be an obscure firmware, but I've had great results using it. Built on the Linksys 4.20.7, it is stable and just plain works!

After recently bricking another Linksys 54G v4 with a very popular firmware on this forum, I found this to be a great alternative. Flashing worked just like the original Linksys 4.20.7, but you get the great additional features that Linksys doesn't think you need.

    Hello,

Today I have made a new build, which solves a view problems:

BackupRestore page can now make backup of config.
Changed the webpage a little-bit with more info.
Change in txpwr will have immediate effect.

    b005 Working on WRT54G v4

Just flashed the b005 load on my WRT54G v4 and it went off without a hitch. The web gui backup now works perfectly as stated - this is nice to have just in case. The Static DHCP works great - and allows you to give a hostname for easy ID.

Thanks again to Jchuit for this nice update to 4.20.7!!

    :cheer:  :cheering:

WDS, this is the best way to connect, it works by mac-adress this means you need to know the mac adress of the router you like to connect.
You best ask this mac adress and follow the manual from Tarifa b004, this
only works with broadcom/linksys... etc routers.

Client mode: you connect by mac adress and ip adress, thus only one computer
is allowed. This mode is not supported is Tarifa build.
Use Satori from Sveasoft or Alchemy if you like this option.
In Alchemy it is possible to connect more then one computer to the internet,
because it is a kind of client gateway mode.

I hope you know a little more now,
    Greetings Jchuit

I've been using b005 since it was released on 9/30 and it has worked flawlessly so far. Wireless and Wired clients are all happy and the DHCP works great.

Thanks again and let me us know if you make any updates in the future.

    Hi there,

Are you planning a Tarifa release for the WRT54GS wireless router?

    Thanks.

Tarifa B006: static dhcp, wds, txpwr, telnet, security, ....

    To none

At the moment I am not planning software for the WRT54GS,
this is because I don't own a wrt54gs router and thus I am not able to test any firmware for de WRT54GS models.

If in the future the WRT54G V5 only will work with VX-Works (2 MByte flash instead of 4 MByte), I maybe have to switch to the WRT54GS. This also means, that I will release the Tarifa software for the model WRT54GS then.

    Greetings,
    Jchuit.

    The source code

    To The_Real_Thibor

I am willing to release the source code, but I don't have that much space available on my web side. (only 10 Mbyte and I need 170 Mbyte)

If I have a good solution, I will let you know.

then just release the altered files, or a patch against untouched sources. that would be far smaller, i would think it'd be around the 1.5MB mark(mine is)

    @jchuit

ask the site admins to see if they can host the file for you. or if you can give me a copy of the source code i can give you a very temporary place to host. btw my email is jagboy125@gmail.com

    Tarifa B006 and the source

The source (a patch) of the Tarifa build is now around 15.1 Mbyte as a tar file.

I think it is a good idea from Jagboy, that you host it.

    Greetings,
    jchuit.
