    Hi All,

I bought a WAG54Gv2 from eBay supposedly new. (there was no plastic wapping around it). I’m in Sydney Australia (AU units had more RAM & Flash than some other markets)
The mac addr. on label under the unit is nothing like the actual MAC,
    MAC (from label): 0002DD3004EE
LAN MAC address (WindowsXP “arp -a†command): 00-13-10-00-02-06
Radio MAC address (captured by OmniPeek): 00:13:10:00:02:06
From WAG54G Web GUI: Status > Gateway, MAC addr: 00-13-10-00-02-07
and the serial number on the label is,
    CDFA5F806136
    Web GUI says,
    Current Firmware: 1.02.00 (Apr, 24, 2006)

When I try to update the firmware with,
    WAG54GV2-AU-AnnexA-FCC-v1.02.20-code.bin
4,436,024 bytes (which Linksys support said is the right size)
    (latest for AU)
    using this method TFTP method,
    http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Installing/TFTP?action=show&redirect=OpenWrtViaTftp

    I get,
Error on server : Wrong Code Pattern

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Regards, MH

Not a lot of help for your problem - but MAC addresses starting with 00:13:10 are registered to Cisco Linksys. The MAC on the label 00:02:DD is registered to Bromax Communications who are now owned by CyberTan who seem to write the firmware lots of Linksys products http://www.triton.com.tw/html/op/nac.htm

My Linksys devices have 00:12:17, 00:13:10 and 00:0C:41 for Linksys - and the MAC's on the case match the firmware AFAIK!

As I'm sure you fear - this modem could have a 'history' - may even be a European size memory device inside?

I found those infos about serial starting with "CDFA", it seems to belong to the WRT54G model.
Donno if wag can have serial starting with those same 4 digit? (should start with CF62?)

I also noticed that - the case is similar so some of the grey bits are interchangeable - but isn't the serial No usually on the underside of the front blue plastic bit which has the front label and LED configs?

The WAG and WRT are totally different, using similar serial numbers means absolutely nothing.
