Firmware upgrade procedure for WAG54G-UK

Discussion in 'Other Linksys Equipment' started by kieranpreston, Nov 28, 2004.

  1. I've just upgraded the firmware on my Linksys ADSL Gateway WAG54G-UK device from a wireless PC but I now find that I can't log back onto the 192.168.1.1 gateway address to re-configure it, however I can still access the internet.

Does anyone know if you have to use a cable connection the first time you do this, i.e. using an RJ45?

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.

Did you do a full 10 second + hard reset?

The upgrade (or remnant from your last config?) has perhaps turned off the "Management via Wireless interface" setting? (If I recall correctly, this is supposed to be 'enabled' as the default, but when I upgraded to 1.02.7, I believe I found it the opposite way around)

Easiest way to check might be to log in with a wired client.

upgrading firmware should ALWAYS be done via a wired pc. if you connection drops ( a lkikely thing) whilst upgrading your firmware with a wireless client, then your firmware gets trashed and the router dies.

press reset button for 30 seconds to do a full reset.

what lights do you get on the wag54g when it has finished rebooting.
