Does your path statement include c:\windows\system32?

simple get a tftp program, there are lots out there if you google for one. Solarwinds, Cisco, Pumpkin etc. Actually I think if you go over to Eric's site. Breezy.ca he has a tftp program available for download.

There's one built in though - wouldn't the logical thing be to fix the problem at hand rather than creating a band-aid?

    this might do the trick

use a REAL operating system and try again
or you can just download TFTP2 from here

Bummer. I feel your pain. Bricked a Linksys 54g version 5 before. Can you exchange it?

the green power light is on...I bought it at circuit city a few days ago. do you think they will exchange it?

I don't work at Circuit City but have exchanged things there. The one's in my area don't ask any questions. Especially if its an exchange. Its one of the reasons I buy stuff at Circuit City. So I say go man go.....

Isn't that up to you? If I had the chance to get a new Buffalo with the amplified section and install ddwrt I'd go for that just to have the better latest hardware. But if you are having problems loading the firmware onto the Buffalo to avoid bricking another router its always best to go with what works for you.

umm why don't u just upload the file through the web interface?

I think the best method is upgrading to dd-wrt micro and use the web interface and update to Tomato from there.
I know it's the safest way too...

The Buffaloes do not allow this. They require Tomato to be TftPeed up one of their back ports.

    update!

Didn't brick it after all. I thought I flashed it ok and there were no strange lights. It turns out I wasn't pinging 192.168.1.1. I was pinging the 11 address. Then I was reading some ddwrt wiki and it had this last step of going back to 1.1 in there. I tried a nvram reset and pinged it today and it worked! I was able to bring up Tomato and I am now using the router....thanks for all your help.

    regards
