Flashing DDWRT over Alchemy?

Okay, so I have a WRT54G v.2 that someone loaded Alchemy onto. I was planning on putting DD-WRT on it instead. Now I have 2 questions:

    1) Which file do I download from dd-wrt.com (dd-wrt.v23.std_beta2.zip)?

    2) Can I just flash it over the Alchemy firmware or should I put the linksys firmware on it first?

I did, and did not find what i needed. I did however find elsewhere that other had flashed to the latest Linksys firmware first then reset all settings to factory default. Then flash it with DD-WRT.

Thanks for your help matthiaz, you're a beacon of light in this dark world.

both questions can be easily figured out from browsing dd-wrt.org forums and documentation there

what file you download depends on what you need to set up so we can't answer you. it's too open ended of a question.

can you flash straight to dd-wrt? yes, but you must be a newb to even ask a question like that. odds are you will make a brick when you try to flash, so it's best for you to do some research before you do anything with the router. Also, why even bother? Why upgrade if all works? there is a reason people get frustrated with posts like this
