I have one simple question... instead of flashing dd-wrt and then flashing tomato, can we load up the latest tomato firmware of our choosing? I would assume yes, however I seem to remember seeing somewhere that said flash dd-wrt first and then go to tomato...

I've gone directly to Tomato on several WRT54G-TM routers, exactly as GhaladReam describes describes, no trouble on any of them.

Did it liast night, followed the DD-WRTinstructions, uploaded the CFE file using the WRT54G-TMs standard config pages, waited 5 minutes, then directly uploaded Tomato 1.25ND using TFTP.

Router running for the last 15 hours w/o problem, and since its Tomato, don't anticipate any either :)

Nope...Spoke too early... everything seemed fine, then I tried downloading a split archive from RapidShare, have a premium a/c, so was getting plenty of speed, but, everything would just stop at around 35-40 magabyte mark, download would stop. I tried downloading Nero from the official site, same thing, couple of files from microsoft.com, same problem. The file would start fine, really max out my bandwidth, and then, just STOP.

I looked in Tomato logs, and seemed like there was a few SIGTERMs, plus some miniupnpd failures.

In anycase, I flashed back to Tomato 1.23 standard, and things seem to be stable, have done the download test and managed to download 700Megbyte plus w/o a problem.

RAF 1.23.8515.5 ND by Victek is definitely stable, if you want to be sure. About 45 days uptime here. Thats with heavy eMule use and some BT. By heavy, I mean 4 TB/month+. I believe there are some power setting issues in 1.23, which Victek mod also fixes.

    4 TB/Month...wish I could get a ISP like that!!!...

Will try Vicktek's and report back.

Yep...1.23ND Victek.... on for about 5 hours... tried a 359 Maga download, no problem!!!...

I know a lot of folks have not had any trouble with Tomato 1.25, but I had instability on my old Linksys WRT54GS 1.1. The reason I bought the TM router was because I thought maybe the 5 yr plus old router, with flashes of Sveasoft, DD-WRT and Tomato, is maybe ready to be retired.

Will monitor for a few days to see if things are stable.

    hi guys,
is there anyway to fix this? I followed the instructions, but I could not tftp the router with tomato firware. I can only ping the router now but could not do anything else. Any suggestion?

PS. I figured it out. :)
