On the firmware page of the wrt54gs on the US and EUR website I found:

    Firmware Date : 11/10/2004
    Firmware File Size : 3.6MB
    Firmware Version : 3.37.2
Click here to download the firmware file.

Click here to download the version information.

The table below is a list of the minimum firmware requirements you must meet.
    Model Number Compatabile Firmware Version
    WRT54G 2.02.2
    WAP54G 2.07
    WRT54GS 2.07.1

Anybody tried to load this version in the WAP45G and/or WRT54G?

For your information I have the WRT54G V2.

Is there nobody who has ever tried it?

I would not try flashing a GS firmware onto a G firmware. Just stick with whatever firmware is offered on the WRT54Gv2 page.

But the official Linksys note suggests that this version can be used on all these models, so not only the wrt54gs.
Furthermore some of the other 3rd party firmware can also be used on both the WRT54G and wrt54gs.

If you want to, then go for it. I would simply stick to whatever firmware is on the WRT54Gv2 page.

    Thnx FDM80.
That's the whole point. The Eur Firmware is still 2.02.7 and I'am looking for the feature of at least 2.04.3

Typical of Linksys to post misleading info on their website. Part of the info you read very likely refers to the minimum firmware requirements to have WRT54G and WAP54G in wireless repeater mode working together.

While it may be true that some custom firmware may work on both WRT54G/GS, the firmware has been "tweaked" to accomodate both units and does NOT apply to Linksys official firmware releases, even HyperWRT has a separate firmware for each of WRT54G/WRT54GS/WAP54G.

Safer to stick to using firmware available for download from the specific product's download page. Do not apply firmware from another model, not even between WRT54G and WRT54GS.

Of course no one can prevent from from insisting on carrying out this little exercise, but you are doing so totally at your own risk. Please do consider this very very carefully.

Ahhh, the euro firmware. I assumed you were talking about the north american firmware. You could actually flash a north american firmware onto your router and go up to the newest firmware, you'll just lose channels 12, 13 I believe. If you aren't hell bent on using those 2 or 3 extra channels the north american version doesn't have then I'd say just load a north american firmware.

In his original post he wanted to know if he could flash his WRT54G with a WRT54GS firmware

    I'm screwed

I have upgraded my WRT54GS router from the International part of the website. And it gave me a firmware called WRT54GS_3.37.2_US_code.zip.

I flashed it and now parental controls wont work because it thinks I'm in America. (im in the uk)

Linksys seem unaware that they are offering the wrong firmware for the UK. I have told them but they seem unable to understand.

the firmware can be downloaded here :- http://www.linksys.com/international/product.asp?coid=6&ipid=533

Now - where can I get the UK version of this firmware ?

Thanks very much for the link.

It might be worth a mention that the EU version on the firmware will allow parental controls for uk.

shame linksys links to the wrong file.
