I registered but when I try to order it claims my email address is invalid ...

WRT54GL for $25 - sounds too good to be true?

I ordered one on the 6th and recieved an email telling me that I was amoung the first 3000 to request one and that they would get back with me in the "next few days" to complete the order. I have not heard anything back yet and it has been over a week so who knows.

Wow. This is an interesting project. If my ISP didn't have big "no sharing your connection you naughty boy" warnings, I'd be all over something like this.

has anyone looked into this recently? In an email they sent me, it shows that i have to be registered for a year or they reserve the right to take the router back.

Well.. I went ahead and ordered it. I couldn't pass up a 33 dollars shipped wrt :) There is a stipulation that says I have to have it o there network for 1 year or they reserve the right to take it back, but I highly doubt that they have a system setup to monitor this. If I decide not to use it as a fon hostpot, and they penialize me, I'll just say I'm having network trouble or something :D .
