Fon will sell Linksys wi-fi routers for $5 (£2.75). ????

    I was on the BBC News Techie website when i came across this article, and i thought of you guys n gals.

    I would guess that they have got their own firmware on these routers, which would lead me to beleive that we could flash over the o/s and have a cheap 3rd party fw router.

    Your missing the point though. Your supposed to share your internet access with other Fon members, not buy the router for your own good. If you don't register it as a Fon access point it will cost you $45 extra.

    I'd really say please avoid buying these routers unless you want to help. I'd do so but everyone who needs internet in my area has it so there's no point. A lot of people will try and con routers of of them for cheap which is wrong. Don't do it. Be a good citizen.

    i am a good citizen, but i am always looking for the cheapest alternative ;)
