Suffice it to say I (formerly TexasFlood), was permanently banned for advertising as I shared a router deal. I am checking with Toxic about it.

    Thanks

I greatly appreciate someone notifying us when they come across a router deal!

Me to. That's how I got my routers, a deal someone else shared. So maybe I did violate the rules without being aware. Or perhaps my ban was unintended collateral damage in remediating the spam mstombs mentioned. I was surprised by it. If I did violate the rules, it would be nice to be educated so I can avoid it in the future, assuming I'm not banned again,.

So, are we allowed to post awesome router deals if we find them? What a shame if not! I can honestly say that the last four router purchases I have made came from posts by fellow router addicts here in the Tomato forum. BTW, glad you were restored.

I'll answer this with my perspective and Toxic can correct me if I mis-speak.

I've posted deals before and had no negative reaction to it.

Toxic replied to me about my recent ban and stated he has been inundated with spam posts the last few weeks so he is being rather over cautious. If the user is real (like me) the situation can be corrected by posting a message to Toxic, otherwise the ban will remain in place.

Essentially my ban was unintended collateral damage in remediating the spam as I suspected.

There is a risk of the same happening again but will be reversed upon request as in my case.

Interesting, thanks for the update. I don't recall ever seeing a spam post in the Tomato section, and I visit here every day. Onward with new and better hardware deals then, great news. My RT-N16 is approaching 3 months old, probably should be looking for an upgrade soon. <G>
