    All,
I've got a WRV200 connected to the net behind a basic belkin DSL modem. The belkin does some basic routing (its pretty much impossible to get a modem that isn't a basic router these days unfortunately).

Most things are working pretty stably since I upgraded the firmware on the WRV200 to .29.

However, we cannot FTP to the outside world. As an experiment, I threw a switch in between the modem and the WRV200 so that I could connect my notebook to the belkin directly as well as leaving the WRV connected for the rest of our users. Hey presto, FTP worked like a charm for me.

Any thoughts on why this would be occuring, and what I can do to resolve it?

    Cheers

there isn't anything you can do to resolve it, at the moment. a future firmware upgrade will hopefully fix this widely known issue.

    Thibor,
thanks for the update. What is so special about FTP? Other protocols (i.e HTTP) go through just fine

    Cheers

dunno, but it's not just ftp. other protocols like sip and irc dcc file transfers fail too.

Is it because things like FTP and DCC can come back in on a different port to the one they went out on or something?

Has Linksys given a timeline to get it sorted?

    Cheers

I would not count on time lines, when it comes to bug fixing. I'm waiting about half of a year for certain bugs to be fixed, already.

The router is much more stable, now. Yet, I'm forced to reset it once a week, or so.

    More interesting discoveries

We've left a scheduled job running.... and have discovered that FTP works sometimes. I'm not sure how to quantify when it works yet (thats the next thing we'll dig into here).

Humor me for a minute and tell me a few things about your belkin dsl modem. For example, is it a combination route/gateway device, and do you have it running it "bridge mode?"

The Belkin is a combination Router/Gateway/DSL Modem.

I don't believe it has a bridge mode. I tried turning NAT off on it, but then nothing could connect to the outside world (the only thing connected directly to it is the linksys)

the belkin does support RIP which is currently disabled

Should I maybe set the Operation Mode on the WRV200 to router? If I do this, do I still connect it to the Belkin via the WRV200's WAN port?

What else do you want to know

    Cheers
