    Hey guys,

I changed my settings to static ip and configured my protocol to manual chose an ip etc for my PC and for my Laptop. Yet my laptop connects but won't transmit any data to allow me to get online(internet). But then as soon as I put DHCP back, it works right away. Am I missing something here?

    Thanks in advance.

I believe my gateway/ dns were ok. When putting an IP is there a specific list that I need to follow or what?

I simply took the next IP after my desktop which was 103 i think.

    Is that it?

You have to enter the static IP Address with a mask of 255.255.255.0. If the DHCP server is issuing IP Addresses starting with 192.168.1.X and has up to ten clients and the Local address of thhe router is 192.168.1.1. You enter the Gateway address of 192.168.1.1. The static IP address of the NIC should be greater than 192.168.1.1 and less than 192.168.1.X or higher than 192,168.1.X + 10. The DNS address are the DNS addresses from the router status page. If you had a desktop address of 192.168.1.103 and you have ten clients and you have a static IP Address of 192.168.1.104 an you had another DHCP client it got the address of 192.168.104, which conflicts with your static IP Address.
