is there anyone out there who can tell me how to connect to internet explorer via wireless? I have installed the WRT54G on my desktop and my daughter's laptop does not need a card as there is already an internal one. The wireless network connection icon shows the strength to be excellent. But each time I try to open internet explorer or msn, I get "this page cannot be displayed"

    Hello Lutedog57

I'm new at this - Hope you are not doing like I did - thinking that Internet explorer connects directly to the router. On the remote laptop, its Internet Explorer to the ISP connection software to the router. The ISP connection software has to be on both computers.

what's the network setup like? do you have your desktop wired to the router? yeah your's daughter's laptop has a built-in wireless card right? great stuff. this is the initial installation of this router right? is your desktop running WinXP? try to see if you can go online when you hook this desktop up to the modem directly... if you can, hit up linksysfix.com/check and download NetSet into the desktop. save it on the desktop as well and run it. follow the detailed instructions. and it should automatically set up your router for you along with the wireless. if the desktop works fine when wired to this router and already has Internet, move the NetSet file into your daughter's laptop and run it wirelessly from there. it should be able to connect to the router wirelessly and to the Internet in no time. NetSet won't work if the built-in wireless adapter is using a configuration utility other than the one embedded on WinXP (Wireless Zero Config) - provided that your daughter's laptop runs on WinXP. if not, hit me up.
