My new WRT54GL is making a horrible loud whine. I need to send it back to newegg for another replacement. So of course I need to revert back to the Linksys firmware. Can you please tell me if it is done in this order and correctly?

    1. In Tomato. Restore default router settings.
    2. Log back in
    3. Erase all data in NVRAM memory
    4. Log back in
    5. Upgrade with stock Linksys firmware

    Are those the correct steps?

Hi, you might also do "Restore Factory Settings" inside original Linksys firmware after you flash it.

Just for my interest, what is making the whining noise? There doesn't seem to be any internal component that is capable of making a noise! Thanks!

    These steps worked for me:
    1. Upgrade with stock Linksys firmware.
    2. In stock Linksys firmware - Restore default router settings.
