Goosed WAG54G V2; DSL won't sync

    Found out what the problem is with my WAG54G V2, about a month old.

    I've tested three separate DSL boxes on my line; a Thomson Speedtouch USB, a D-Link DSLG640T and another WAG54G. Mine is the only one that won't sync up; it's obviously goosed. I bought it through Amazon, so I suppose I'll have to look for a refund from them, unless Linksys are nice people in the UK; anyone know?

    A bit disappointing to be frank; first time I've bought h/w that's fried inside a couple of months...

    Hey, its probably too late now, but did you confirm with the ISP the MTU, channelisation and encapsulation of the line?

    These will contribute to the line not sync'ing

    Everything matches on both WAG54Gs; mine gives up trying to sync after approx 6-7 secs, all the other modems sync within 4. There's nothing in the log (which is pretty useless imho).

    Plot thickens... Tested on a separate line. On this DSL line it syncs up OK;

    DSL Status: UP
    DSL Modulation Mode: GDMT
    DSL Path Mode: FAST
    Downstream Rate: 576 Kbps
    Upstream Rate: 288 Kbps

    But on a DSL line with 2.2Mbps downstream, it won't. Confused.

    Join the gang

    My Wag54g (v2) has also fallen into this hole!

    Speedtouch plays ball, ADSL on linksys will not sync up.

    Attenuation on the line reported low, when I had the problem, my guess is that the phone line/exchange sent a surge of electricity to the linksys and now its fried. The DB on the line has now stabilised but the linksys will not play ball!

    I guess its Netgear time.... tried rebooting and all the normal things.. nothing!

    Will give Linksys a try (online support) then try to get this thing RMAd...

    OH BUGGER!!!!

    <I stand corrected!!!>

    After talking with the ISP and getting the ATM cell checked by BT it appears that it was misaligned... The linksys was fine after all. Although the Linksys is a little more sensivite to layer1/2 it is still a good box!

    The speedtouch is just a dumb modem at the end of the day and will do anything anyone tells it :)
