    Hi all,

    I have the following structure.

    Fritzbox 7490
Main Router connected to ADSL 2MBit
    Linksys WRT54GL
    Tomato RAF 1.28.1211006-RAF
2nd Router should be used only for Guestnetwork (LAN + WLAN)
I have connected WAN Port of WRT54 to Lan Port of Fritzbox.

    Configuration of 7490
I only added a static Route here goes to

    Configuration of WRT54
    IP Adress
    Router IP Address
    Static DNS
    DHCP Server ON Range
    Respond to ICMP ping YES
    Allow multicast YES
    NAT loopback ALL
^^ Not sure if this Firewall points configured correctly
    Routing Mode = Router
    RIPv1 & v2 = Both
^^also not sure if correct here
    IP/MAC BW Limiter
    Enable QoS Limit Checked
    Download Bandwith 2048
    Upload Bandwith 380
    (Added static DHCP for Device
    Added Device IP
    DLRate 50
    DLCeil 50
    ULRate 10
    ULCeil 10
    Priority Normal
    TCP Limit 50
    UDP Limit 5/s
    ARP Binding
    Enable ARP Bindinng Checked
    Limit unlisted machines Checked
Added MAC and IP of Device
    I now have 2 Problems.

    1. I can't connect from the Main Network to the Webinterface of the WRT54 Router.
Under Adminstration Remote Access is set to HTTP.
Ping to and is working fine.
    I think Firewall Problem??

    2. I can succesfully connect from the Network to Internet and to the WebInterface of the Fritzbox.
But the Bandwith Limit does not work. Clients from this network can always use full Speed.
Tested with connection over LAN and WLAN. Additionally testet enable of QoS but does not change anything.
Read somewhere that BW Limiter is not affecting the internal LAN Traffic. Could that be the problem in my case?
What can i do to limit the Bandwith for WAN Port. It also wouldn't be a problem for me, if internal traffic over LAN ports is also affected. Primary goal is to limit bandwith for all traffic coming from WRT54 and is going to Internet.

Hope that someone here can help me.

    Best regards.

No one here who can help me with this?
    With none of this problems?

Or is there perhaps an alternative Mod/Firmware than RAF that i can try?

I read something about "Gargoyle Router" before I found Tomato RAF Mod, but it seems not so optimized like Tomate for Broadcom Devices, so I was happy when I found the Mod. Has someone here experience with that? Perhaps it's worth a try.

I can't directly help you, but have you read Toastman's writeups on what he's done with QOS and the setup that has worked for him? I believe that the most of the firmwares here use parts of his work.

You cannot use the bandwith limiter and the QoS at the same time, this will cause problems. You must choose one or the other.

to connect to the WRT54G from the other router, keep in mind that WRT54G's IP address is not the one you've setup (, it's the one that the other router decides to provide to the WRT54G.

    Yes, I followed Toastman's writeups.

I also disabled QoS and tried again.
Somehow it also worked once, but after I tried to adjust the speed limits, it was running without limit again... very strange.

Yesterday I switched to DD-WRT and this is working fine from the beginning.
Speed limit working correctly and also access from other network is possible.
So this thing is finished for me now.

    Thanks for your hints!
