Hi, I was trying to find the right way of doing hard reset after firmware update and it looks like no1 knows the correct way of doing it, or at least there are 4 different ways:

    1. The one Linksys tells you to do in the manual:

    2. The one Linksys tells you to do if you call them and say their manuals suck:

3.The one Linksys tells you to do when you call second time and say their manuals suck and they have retarded CSRs:

    4. And finally the one I got from http://www.hyperwrt.org:

Now, maybe Im stupid, but there is something wrong here and I would like to know which one is wrong

I usually just press the reset button for 30 seconds, then leave the router to reboot.

yeah thats what the original manual says. But I made an effort (lol) and called them several time just to make sure.

+ HyperWRT's forum describes it differently as well.

Having said that I must note that linksys rep told me (the second time I called) that doing it by just pressing the button for 30 sec will do soft reset, but they advise it to make sure people dont play with the router and dont brick it, because most of them dont know anything about what they are doing lol. So the question is rather open.

lets put it an easier way. just press the reset for 30 seconds, let it reboot.

You wont loose sleep over this now will you? the fact there are probably more than 4 way is futile and not worth the effort of discussing tbh.

you cna also clear NVRAM via telnet using 2 different commands, and using the GUI Restore to factory defaults as well, now thats 7 ways, i dont think any of them are incorrect, but dont worry about them please. I am sure you have better things to get on with in your life :)

    hey listen,
best way to reset linksys router is to hold the reset down for 30 seconds while it is and just reboot it ....
anyhow some times it wont loose its settings in this way then u will have do it other way that is HOLD the reset down for 30 seconds and without letting the reset go unplug the power 10 secs and plug it back....and let the reset go after 10 more sec....
