I don't know if this has been posted before, but yesterday I was thinking how neat it would be if the router could have a keyboard and a monitor. It wouldn't actually be that hard. The video signal could be generated on the fly using a single GPIO. A black and white composite signal would be the easiest way to go and would be less CPU intensive. Essentially, you would be creating video the same way the old Timex Sinclair 1000 or the Atari 2600 used to do it. For the keyboard you'd need two GPIO for a PS/2 style. I've actually messed with PS/2 protocol before since I got a PS/2 mouse working on a Commodore 64 (my claim to fame, huh?) But USB would be infinitely better since it would allow many peripherals to be attached. Unfortunately, I'm ignorant on the low-level part of USB and have no idea what would be required to impliment it. Another possibility for video would be using the serial port to control various LCD screens, anything from a simple text screen to a larger graphical screen.
