I know many people have Broadcom based routers and running 3rd party firmwares, and many do not have a usb host contoller built into them, for those of us who don't have a usb controller, many special features end up missing... and I believe I found a way around this.... But I lack the hardware specialty to figure out the wiring and possible drivers or whatever would be needed for the mod... so I will supply my ideas, and hope that someone will have an idea what to do with them...
a company has made a special usb host controller and these boards caught my eye : http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/...catalogue-product_info-null&prodCategoryID=53
if all you want is just a usb drive adaptor? http://apple.clickandbuild.com/cnb/...-products-null&prodCategoryID=54&title=VDRIVE

and here is a datasheet link for the controller board: http://www.vinculum.com/documents/datasheets/DS_VDIP1.pdf

according to what I read on it, the device (for under $30) provides a usb host controller with 1 of 3 types of interface, serial, parallel, or SPI
