Having two routers at same time?

I have a WRT54GX2 and its current wireless mode is in Mixed mode (so it supports both b and g). But i read that mixed mode will be a little slower for g devices. So i was wondering if i could take one of my old B routers and turn it to an access point and then connect that to my WRT54GX2 which will be set to G only? I would have them on different channels. Does that work?

i dont see any problem with that.
as long as you keep the channels seperated enough and use a different ssid all will be fine.
