I am trying to learn how to complie the WRTSL54GS firmware is an attemp to make a few modifications. Specificaly I was hoping to put in a version of ez-ipupdate that supports zoneedit. The version included in the stock firmware and in thibor 15b only supports dyndns and tzo.

I had planned on taking the changes from the WRT54G 15c release and incorporate them into the wrtsl54gs firmware.

Anyway, I am getting all sorts of errors when I try to compile even the stock firmware from linksys site.

I am new to linux, so I was hoping someone could point me to a VMWare image (aka appliance) that runs in the free VMware player and is known to be able to compile the firmware. Or let me know what packages I need to install to get it to compile.

I was able to get ez-ipupdate to compile on its own using a net install of debain (Sarge) onto a VMWare image. And I have it running on my router in daemon mode, but I was really hoping to get it and the web page changes incorporated into the firmware.

Should the stock wrtsl54GS firmware compile without error?

I made sure to move the tools to /opt and add them to my path.
