hey guys, i am new to this board.

I just picked up this product a day ago, and i got it connected to my 60gb usb enclosure at first and i had to re-format which was no biggy, cause i transfered most of my files onto the laptop. My question and concern is that it was detecting the hard drive before and now it doesn't even want to detect it at all unless i reformat it from my XP machine to a fat32/ntfs file system. Once i get it detected again, the moment i start transfering files back to the unit, it crashes and states that the network i'm trying to reach is unreachable and it doesn't detect my enclosure no more. I'm using the latest firmware, the R25 i believe, at which i thought my fix the problem.
Thanks guys, i'm not sure what to do at this moment. and is anyone else experiencing this type of problem?

This is a big issue and problem: the NSLU2 uses its own (linux) file format. This is not compatible with the Windows NTFS/FAT32 format.

This is why - essentially - you can not use the harddisk anymore as a portable device once you hook it up to the NSLU2.

Hence the annoying formatting when you attach it to anything else then the NSLU2.

As far as I know, there are freeware tools which allow you to use the ext-file format on a windows machine... try using google

and leave the disk in the format the nslu2 requests...
