I have a WRT54G v5 hooked directly to my Speedstream 4100 DSL modem provided by SBC DSL. I use a Powerbook G4 with Airport. Problem is, I can connect really well wired into the modem. Then I attach the router and I can get the internet when wired into the router. When I go wireless (with IP set to 192.168.1.2 to avoid conflict with the modem) I get a great signal for about 5 minutes. I am running WPA encrpytion. Then, the number of "bars" on my wireles goes down by 1 and I loose internet connection entirely. When I check around in the settings two things have happened:
    1. it looks like my password on the router gets reset somehow. This has happened about 2 times.
    2. Most of the time I can't get an IP address for the router. Then the Airport gets confused. In the Airport settings menu I just get a blank space for the router IP. When I iniitally connect I see 192.168.1.2 as I do when it is wired into the router.

All this gets fixed for about 5 more minutes if I restart the modem, router and computer.

    Help!!!

    Thanks!

    dropping connection

Try turning off IPv6 in the Networking preference pane and rebooting. That should do it.
