Help me improve my wireless N 5ghz performance

I have a RT-N66U router. I don't think I am getting very good 5ghz performance. I realize 5ghz doesn't go through walls as well as 2.4 but I still don't think it's as good as it could be. I don't think I have ever seen my speed reach 200 Mbps. Occasionally, my connection stops responding and I have to change to another SSID (2.4) and then I sometimes reconnect to the 5ghz N. Can you guys provide some guidance to improve this?

Hi, 5 ghz frequency is not necesarily faster than 2.4 ghz, check my signature, i use a Linsys wrt600n since years ago and have a lot of experience with 5 ghz, it does not reach longer distances than 2.4 ghz and you'll notice that you'll have trouble through a lot of walls, the good thing is that is not crouded frequency, you'll notice that being in an apartament building is almost imposible to "see" any 5 ghz net so is easy to choose a channel, at list by now;) .
If you think you have trouble with speeds, check your 5 ghz settings, leave them at "default" and channel "auto" also check your wifi card go to "power management" and uncheck "allow this computer to turn off this device" , beeing a 30 feet you sould not have desconetions.

I am sorry, I am not familiar with n66u, I told you what are my 5ghz settings and runs realy fine.
I think "Default" settings at "Advanced" > "Wireless" are the best for regular wifi net. By the way, WMM is better at "Enable"

WMM is required for n per the specification.

WMM must be enabled to get N speeds on 5ghz and 2.5ghz. In some firms it does not came enabled by default.
