ok here goes. i have a WRT54G set up at my cable modem. it is set as AP + WDS. on the other end of the building, i have another WRT54G set up as AP + WDS. both have wired and wireless computers connected to them and the system has worked rock solid.

now, i am trying to add a 3rd WRT54G to the mix but am hitting a road block. i just want the 3rd one to act as a bridge to connect an additional wired computer to the network. i tried setting it to "wireless ethernet bridge" mode. i have everything set up correctly (i think). but it does not work. it locks up the new WRT54G so i have to reset it to be able log into it to check settings.

i have an old WET11 that does connect and seems to work.

do i need to add the mac address of the 3rs WRT to the other WRT's? i doubt this since the WET11 works without doing so. am i better off in "client mode"?

    i am running Thibor Firmware.

    any help is appreciated!

should i try dd-wrt sp2 on the 3rd (bridge) router just for fun?

setup the third wrt to use WDS just like the first two.

ok. will that slow down the network at all, having all 3 set to wds?

also, why does the WET11 bridge work, but not the WRT set as a bridge?

Have you tried using your 3rd router has a "regular" client to validate that it can connect? How about a wireless adapter in you additional PC if you only have one?

You scenario should work and it should be able to connect to either AP depending on you location. Trying another 3rd party firmware is also a good mean of validation. DD-WRT v23SP2 works for me in a similar setup.

when i set up the 3rd WRT54G, i was on my home network (which i also use a WRT54G as main router). i set it up as a bridge and put in the wireless encryption settings, etc (both my home and business networks are set exactly the same). it connected like a champ at home.

when i tried it at the business (twice) it locked up both times. had to do a reset to access it, re-entered the settings, same deal, lock up :S
