I have a laptop that I manage to pick a fair wifi signal on the wireless card. What I want to do since I am waiting for dam comcast to decide when they will actually come out here and do my install already. is tap that signal and forward it out the my2nd nic to a WRT54G so that I at least can plug in my vonage and be able to call comcast withought using all my cellular minutes being placed on hold waiting for a manager.

how can I achieve as a last resort temp solution since I am left here waiting for this company to get there act together.

please someone help me asap thanks in advance

Why not just put your WRT into client or bridged mode and use vonage from that. Although you will temporarily loose wireless access to your router, just have your wireless clients tap into that same signal until Comcast fixes your cable.

I thought you couldnt do that.

the signal is coming from someone I dont know in this apartment building. so i thought that you couldnt. because everyone was telling me that wds you need to routers with the same firmware settings.

but if your saying that I can link up as a client I will try although i am still confused.[/code]

I plugged in vonage linksys phone adapter to port 1 off the WRT54G and nothing I even tried my other laptop to see if its routing the same connection that I am tapping off and nothing. any other ideas.

the SSID you should be using is the one that the wireless network you want to tap off of is using and you may even have to manually change the channel. Also make sure your routers internal IP changed as to not conflict with the other router. IE in client bridge mode make it 192.168.1.2 (assuming the other router assigns 192.168.1.x addresses) and disable DHCP on your router or in Client Mode do 192.168.2.1 and leave DHCP enabled.
