Help.. poor transfer speed between 2 PCs in network

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem which has been there a long time, but now its really starting to annoy me.
Thing is i got the WRT54G and have the Firmware Version: v3.03.6 - HyperWRT 2.1b1 running.

Though the internet is fast (access and connections) the transfer speed between the 2 PCs in my network is SLOW.
Slow= 350MB takes approx. 15min to transferfrom one to another!!!

Does anyone have any idea why that is, and what i have to do to change it.
What settings are important here, if you tell them i can post you my setting of that category.

BTW: Signal strength is Excellent to Very High. SO that shouldnt be the problem here.

    Thanks in advance.

You mentioned signal strength so I guess you are doing the file transfer wirelessly. Have you tried your file transfer with a hardwired connection? Just to isolate the possibility that you experience that kind of problem on a wired and a wireless connection. Also, have you considered your computer's resources? Doing a file transfer on a computer with alot of files in it can still have a slowdown even on a wired connection.

Other than that, if you are doing it wirelessly, try to observe the interferences like if you have a cordless phone operating on a 2.4 ghz near those computers or router can have an effect if little on your wireless connectivity.

Also, if still does not help, what I do is to change the MTU from the router's setup page to either 1492, 1400, or 1300.

Other then that, if you have already exhausted possible solutions, try using a different firmware.

Try different solutions to narrow down possibilities...
I hope I was able to help in a little way..:)

oops. i forgot to mention that this is a complete wireless connection... no pc is connected to the router via a wire at all.

when i use wires the transfer is fast. so it must be a setting or firmware problem...

interferences: none around. next POSSIBLE interference would be a phone that is approx. 15meters away...

i was talking about ONE 350mb file, that takes 15minutes to transfer.
Did you mean that when talking about "alot of files" ?

my MTU is set to "AUTO". Should i set that to "manual" ?

What other firmware could you recommend?
cause i am quite lost in all these firmware terms (VPN, TELNET...)

Thanks for your response! Helps narrowing the search ;)

I also have the same problem, exactly what you are describing... I changed the routers too, but the problem still persists. I've tried all the new firmware and stuff and still no results. I know this is an old thread any ideas on it, I am still running into this problem ;0
