I have a WRT54G v3.1 router running Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c wired to an internet connection via Cable Modem. And a WRT54GL v1.1 running Hyperwrt2.1b1 + Thibor15c not connected to any wired connection. I want the GL router to work as a wireless repeater, bouncing the wireless signal of my G router. So far this is not as easy as I originally thought. Here's what I've tried: ---------------------------WRT_A--------WRT_B Basic Settings Internet Connection Type----DHCP--------Disabled Router IP-----------------192.168.1.1---192.168.1.2 DHCP Server----------------Enabled------Disabled LAN Gateway-----------------N/A-------192.168.1.1 LAN DNS----------------------N/A-------192.168.1.1 Basic Wireless Settings Wireless Mode--------Access Point +WDS----WDS Remote Bridges Wireless--MACof WRT_B--MAC of WRT_A What am I doing wrong? Does anyone have step-by-step instructions?
Don't you need the second router to be AP+WDS too if you want the second router to serve wireless clients as well? You may want to ensure both the SSID and channel are the same on both routers. Also, what MAC addresses are you using? Try using the site_survey page (under one of the administration pages) to discover the two routers wireless MACs. They may be different from the MAC addresses you are using. I'm not a network expert, but it seems such routers have at least three different MAC addresses each. One way to find out is to disable MAC address restriction first and just allow any WDS connections. See if this is working; then you know it's a MAC issue.
for reference, the wireless MAC is 2 higher than on the label, ie if the label is xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:aa, the wireless MAC would end in ac aa would be LAN mac ab would be WAN mac ac would be Wireless mac
Working....sort of..... I have it working thru the Wired connection of the WRT54GL router. But I can not get it to work thru wireless on the GL? It doesn't even show the GL router as an available network. HELP.
