Help with 2 AP's

I have 2 WRT54GL's running dd-wrt. AP1 is running DHCP, is connected to the modem and then to the wired network.

I would like to add AP2 to the network via a wired connection. I want to use the same SSID so that clients can hop from AP1 to AP2 depending on signal strength. This would give me better wireless coverage.

The 2nd AP will have DHCP turned off, and the same SSID, but I am a bit lost after that.

I want to reserve the IP in DHCP for the 2nd AP.

How should each of the WRT54GL's be setup?
Should they both be on the same channel, or different channel's?

They need to be on different channels.
