Note: This is a repost from the DD-WRT forums. Sorry about that, i'm just trying to get some help, you know?

Now, I apologize if this has been asked before. I took a look over the wiki and searched the forums, but i'm pretty sure this is a new issue.

Let's start with my "bricked" 1.1, shall we?

Okay. I tried to load the (correct) DD-WRT firmware on to it. It loaded and died, more or less. Nothing, wouldn't boot, etc. I pulled it offline pretty quick, so that may have been what messed it up.

Now here's the issue: It responds to pings on boot. Perfectly. For like, three seconds. But when I try to TFTP the firmware to it, I get nothing. It says it was successful, the light goes green, and then it just sits there. The lights are working perfectly. Router won't respond (I even gave it a good ten minutes). My PC can SEE it, but when I try to ping it, it's not there. It even says "Local Area Blah Blah Connected".

So, apparently what I have is a router that, despite responding on boot, having lights that dictate the fact that it is apparently functional, and apparently having gotten flashed correctly, STILL won't respond.

What am I doing wrong? And please be gentle, networking scares me.

And now for the second act, my v6!

I'm just...Not sure how to prepare for a flash. What are the chances that it will work if I don't wig out and disconnect like I did last time?

I've been told that I need to upload the firmware in three sections? Is this true?

I'm just confused by all the instructions. Can someone put it nice and simple? As if I was a retarded child, actually.

If the v1.1 is bricked why not try the WRT54G Revival Guide. are you sending the firmware as soon as possible when you turn on the routers power? what firmware are you sending to it? the micro version would be the best option since it is the smallest.

as to the v6. are you trying to upgrade this to DDWRT firmware or just the official linksys firmware.

On the v6, I am trying to install DD-WRT.

On my 1.1, I was trying to get back to the original version, but i'll consider DD-WRT for it, too.
