    Hi everyone,

wonder if anyone can help, I'm looking to run TwonkyMedia on my NSLU2, so in order to get to this position, I've installed Unslung 6.8 onto a USB memory card, and attached a NTFS formatted disk to disk 1 containing music etc

Ok, so I've installed the uNSLUng firmware, Unslung the OS to the USB memory card, and finally installed Twonky.

So far so good, the NSLU is still attached to my PC directly using Cat 5 network cable, and looks good.

However, as soon as I try and attach the NSLU etc to my router, there is no response when I navigate to 192.168.1.77, or when I go to 192.168.1.77:9000 for Twonky.

Would anyone have any thoughts. Previously my NSLU and router have worked fine, its only since my last hard drive died and I've reinstalled that I've had problems.

    Thanks
    Tony

Is that the same ip that you were using when you were directly connected to it? What i am getting at is it sounds like the NSLU is not getting a dhcp address now, so configure it with a static IP and give it a try.

    Hi ifican,

yep, same ip address 192.168.1.77 - the standard default.

Also, the ip address is defined as a static address.

Any further thoughts - like would it be worth me reflashing to one of the original firmwares provided by Linksys and retesting?

    Thanks

Further to my posting above, I've noticed an intermittent connection between my laptop and the WAG54G router I'm using - ie watching the networking icon in system tray, it seems to be connecting and disconnecting several times a minute, I wonder if the same is happening to my NSLU2, as the network light is flashing rather a lot. Wireless seems to be working fine to connect to work's network.

I'm considering the reflashing to a Linksys firmware to see if that fixes the network problem, however I'm beginning to think that I may be best to replace the router - any thoughts on any good ADSL routers with wireless connectivity for use here in the UK, similar to the WAG54G I have currently?

    Thanks

reboot everything and try again. I know at times after several quickvpn sessions things would start to hang up. A reboot always fixed it, I am very curious at this point what is actually being sent and returning. I will not have much time to delve deep into this one until Sunday afternoon, but if you are still having issues come Sunday night, let me know and ill get everything set up again to test overall functionality.

    Hi,

thanks for looking at this, I've borrowed a friends ADSL router, using this the SLUG is happy, network light only flashes when its being accessed (or thats what it seems), there are no problems with using CAT5 cable to laptop (previously intermittent disconnection) - and looking on the WAG54G, WCG200 DSL/Cablemodems forum, there seem to be a number of people posting problems with the model I have - I think the best thing would be to replace it with a new router. If you agree, can you let me know your recommendations for ADSL routers for use here in the UK?

    Thanks
    Tony
