Sorry if this is in wrong forum but.

I changed my username and password and now i dont' remember it, because it's been about a year since i last logged on to it. But about a week ago i just got back from a vacation where i took my router with me (didn't use it) and when i got back i plugged in my router and it worked fine. internet and everything. the thing is though, i can't host anything, which was fine, because it would jsut mean i had to open the port for what ever i was trying to host, i had to do it before and it worked fine. But now i can't get into my router, so i reset it, i held the reset button for a couple seconds and tried the default

    username :
    password : admin

but it didn't work, said level_15_access or something for the log in. I looked around and found a long reset were i hold for 30seconds, unplug while holding for 30seconds, then plugging back in to release. that didn't work. How do i reset my router?

Powered on holding it for about 30 seconds then releasing should do it. You can however also depress the reset button and then plug it in while holding the button down, that usually only takes a few seconds, when you release the button it should reboot and reset.

ok, i held the reset button for idk around 30 seconds, after about 15 i lost internet, then at around 30 seconds my internet came back on, so i let go, then it went down again. it didn't reset, i can't log into my WRT54G router using the defualt

    username :
    password : admin

it didn't reset, if it did, how can i reset it to make it go back to defualt settings?

That should do it, once it starts its reboot cycle from holding it down just let it go. I just double checked and that is the default username and password. Are you trying from a lan port? I know that sounds silly but thats the only thing that comes to mind why you would not be connecting.

Yep, I think that's it - you are most likely not connecting to a WRT. The address you use also seems skewy 198.162.1.1 - should be 192.168.1.1 for default if memory serves.
