Help with NSLU2 Problem

I have an NSLU2 (firmware V2.3R63) that I had a Maxtor 300GB One-Touch drive connected to. My wife has been using that drive for storing her email until we got back this week from a trip during Thanksgiving. The drive had become unplugged so I plugged it back in but could not get the NSLU2 to recognize it as a formatted drive. I finally took the drive and connected to a PC that I had running Ubuntu 9.10 and was able to read the contents of the drive. The weird part of this is that there were no files files newer than Oct 25, 2008 on it and I cannot figure out an explanation for how this could be.

If you look in the directory where my wife's Inbox was, the Inbox file (she uses Thunderbird) is dated Oct 25, 2008 and the latest entry in the file is Oct 25, 2008. So the file date and the contents are consistent but I can't see how this could be because she used her email and her Inbox successfully before we left on Nov. 24, 2009.

Anyone have an idea as to what might have happened?

The timekeeping of the NSLU2 with that old firmware was very poor - it drifts by minutes per day unless you run a ntpsync task. So the dates may just be the local timeset on the device.

I recommend you check the 5V 2A PSU - they are not very reliable, may be just enough to power the device but not the drive interface.

Did you get it working again? If so, what did you do?

    Thanks ahead of time.
