Help with static addresses in Linux

    it looks like your talking about a static DHCP entry, the stock linksys firmware doesn't support this, I believe any other firmware avalible does however. and yes it is based on the mac address of your NIC, it doesn't have anything to do with encryption or keys however.
    your linux box can also get a static DHCP entry or you can confifure it manually with the correct ip.
