HELP! WRT54g Issue

I have had a wireless network set up for about 3 yrs now. I use the WRT54G (firmware v1.41.2) with no encryption.

I have a wired desktop and a wireless laptop that i have been using and it has been working well.

I got a new laptop yesterday, dell latitude, XP with builtin wireless card. Everytime i try to connect the dell to the wireless network, it brings the network down. I have to restart the router and can connect to the internet with the desktop and the old laptop. The new Dell continues to bring the network down.

Any suggestions on how i can fix this.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware? It looks like you are using an old firmware for the linksys.

    Just a thought

As well, I would suggest checking for new drivers for the Dell laptop. This is because a lot of the "out-of-box" drivers may be certainly old and have their fair share of problems. It is also a good idea to check that the old laptop is running new drivers so that there are no new bugs being hidden.

try a usb adapter on the dell. and see if that brings down the network.

if it does then it is the internal wireless card
