    Hi,

I've just noticed that I have a 10ms ping on my modem-router from inside my lan... Seems strange...

    here's my setup:
    Internet
    I
    Inteno x5671 modem-router (10.0.0.1)
    I
    WRT54GL (WAN: 10.0.0.2 - LAN: 192.168.1.254)
    I
    PCs

Here's the data I get when tracerouting or pinging from a PC in the LAN:
    traceroute:
    1 192.168.1.254 (192.168.1.254) 0.626 ms 0.911 ms 1.183 ms
    2 10.0.0.1 (10.0.0.1) 9.039 ms 9.741 ms 10.108 ms

    ping:
    --- 10.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 5 received, 0% packet loss, time 4005ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 1.316/1.350/1.476/0.067 ms

Why is there such a difference between the ping data and the traceroute?

    Hi,

tracert tries to resolve the ip 10.0.0.1 to a name. so traffic gos to i-net. maybe this is the reason.

the ping time is not only the time on wire. the modemprocessor gives additional ms to your latency, but only if you ask the modem.

You have to bridge the cannetion betwin the modem-router to wrt54.
Are you kan youse your wrt54 ass a switch+AP, Canet from the modem Lan port to wrt54 Lan disable the DHCP an your wrt54 and disable the firewal
    internet
    l
    modem+router
    Lan 10.0.0.1
    l
    wrt54 (switch+AP)
