I've searched your wonderful forums here for an answer, but I still don't feel confident about purchasing the WPS54G just yet. Can I:

Use the wireless functionality with my Linksys WRT54G (probably v1.0) using 128-bit encryption, MAC address filtering and no SSID broadcast? Security is pretty important for my wireless network.

I hope I can because it seems like a nice product.

Thanks in advance everyone. This is a very useful site. :)

I haven't personally set one up under the conditions you've specified but yes, the WPS54G should meet your requirements.

If security is really that important on your network you should really consider moving from WEP to WPA though. It takes less than 30 minutes to hack into a network with MAC filtering & WEP enabled. Discovering the SSID is quite trivial as well. :!:

I would suggest you download firmware version 6047 from this website, since it is not readily available from Linksys. The WPS54G supports WPA-PSK TKIP with firmware version 6046 and 6047,both of which are Betas. If you use either version enable SSID broadcast or your WPS54G wi;ll not connect to your network without it. I have used both. The only way to get those firmware version is to speak to a level three support person and convince him that you need it. Some of the WPS54G printservers do have those firmware version out of the factory.
