I bought a RV042 router and followed the instructions as shown in tutorial (router world) or the manual, but i still cannot connect from my home to my office (router RV042) through IPSEC.

I am now using Client to gateway mode and Client side is Microsoft XP client and IP of both sides are NOT FIXED.

What's the reason behind. Please help.

Are you trying to create an ipsec tunnel from an rv042 at home to an rv042 at work? Or are you simply trying to create a vpn connection to work so you have access to the work network?

I have only one RV042 at work, I want to create an IPSEC tunnel at home so that I can use the resource such as file in the file server or printer in the office.

As I follow the instruction to set the parameters on both sides (RV042 and laptop using winXP), I cannot connect to RV042. No connection is made between both sides i.e. no IP assigned from the router.
I would like to know after I set "assign" the IP security policies on local winXP, will it initiate the connection automatically? OR I need to use 3rd party program such as sonic wall to initiate the connection?
