How connect two WRT54G to extend the range?

    Hi!
    I would like to know how I can connect two routers WRT54G to extend the range. I have one WRT54G v4 attached to the modem in one apartment and a second WRT54G v4 in other apartment where the internet signal that comes from the first router is very weak. How do I proceed to connect them?

    Thank you very much!

    I am assuming that the second WRT54G is positioned in a location where it can receive the signal from the first WRT54G (connected to the modem) so I suggest you start with this link:

    Now if the apartment with the second WRT54G is outside of the range of the first WRT54G (connected to the modem) then you need either:

    a. some sort of repeater in between the apartments

    modem <===> WRT54G router/apt1 <---> WRT54G repeater <---> wireless client/apt2

    OR

    b. high gain / directional antenna(s) to improve the range between the two WRT54G's

    modem <===> WRT54G router/apt1 <---> WRT54G bridge/apt2

    The second WRT54G can receive signal from the first, but the signal that comes from the first can't reach the bedrooms of the second apartment. I looked this link about the HypweWRT but it seems that doesn't support v4. How can I set this second WRT54G as bridge and then amplify the signal? I want to use wireless connection in the second WRT54G.

    Thank you very much! I hope you can help me to solve these problems.

    Check out dd-wrt firmware (dd-wrt)

    I have installed latest v23b version on a v1.1 and v3.1 WRT54G, setup WDS, and everything is fine since then

    It seems that dd-wrt works on v4, so you might need to take a look

    To have some doc about dd-wrt, click on wiki link on dd-wrt webpage

    Good luck

    As I understand it. HyperWRT 2.1b1 using 4.x code base does support v4 WRT54G.

    I am using v4.20.8 - HyperWRT 2.1b1+tofu6.2 on my v2.2 unit.

    Get tofu's latest version ... I think he's up to 9 already
