    @craig5571: You can telnet into Tomato, or better, ssh into it, depending on what you allow. In the Tomato web interface: Administration > Admin Access.

    I did not check, but you'll probably find it as /etc/dnsmasq.conf

    this worked , now how do i add an alias?

    thanks !!! i was able to add the dhcp option.
    now i want to alias a name i want the ip address 192.168.1.240 to be known as CISCO-A5, Even though its real name is something else..

    would this work?

    domain=local
    address=/cisco-a5.local/192.168.1.240

    if i did the above , would it work? would it break anything else? all i want to do here is to add an alias....

    thanks

    it depends, in what dns-zoneprefix the clients are looking for... if its local, it should work. You can also try to simply add address=/cisco-a5/192.168.1.240

    this could change the behaviour of a reverse lookup of 192.168.1.240.
