    First time poster, occasional lurker.

    grc.com Shields up! reports a PING came back. So I remote connected to a friend across town and it is true.

    How do I disable this?

    In the (software) help section (security) area it says it blocks them by default....yet it doesn't.

    I tried a search term "wrt54g ping block" and had 111 pages of hits!

    PS: WRT54G v5 F:W/1.00.6

    I do not have a WRT54G v5.0, but on my security page, there should be a settings for Block WAN Ping.

    * Block Anonymous Internet Requests
    * Filter Multicast
    Filter Internet NAT Redirection
    * Filter IDENT(Port 113)

    That's all I see under this tab. * means they are checked.. I couldn't attach a screenshot.

    After close to 1h on their support chat system(very cool) they assume my router is defective... yay.
