How do I connect to my ISP's VPN Server?

    My ISP sells the WRT54G with their custom firmware to connect clients to them wirelessly via VPN. See screenshot of firmware here http://wireless.alphalink.com.au/onlinehelp/wrt54g.stm

    Instead of buying a 54G I read up on firmware, purchased a WRT54GS (v1.1) and installed Alchemy.

    Sveasoft say Alchemy supports PPTP VPN Server. However, there is nowhere to enter the ISP's VPN server address as with the ISP's custom firmware.

    Sveasoft have some documentation about how to setup a VPN server here http://docs.sveasoft.com/SV-Administration-Management.html but it does not explain how to connect to a VPN server.

    Can someone please point me in the right direction?

    Try OpenWRT, but i believe its mainly CLI. Alternativly there is alway;

    Thanks for the reply Suggley.

    I am not really experienced with CLI to be trying OpenWRT

    Alphalink's firmware is for the WRT54G. I have a WRT54GS. From what I have read on this forum, I cannot flash 54G firmware into a 54GS.

    I wish it were that easy!

    Surely someone else on this forum connects through a VPN with their WRT and can tell me where to put the VPN server address?

    Try contacting your ISP to see if they have VPN client software available. I connect to my employers VPN server via a cisco client app running on XP.
